Introducing TOFUA'A! Crafted from a piece of sperm whale jaw, this is a medium sized, but visually powerful piece.

TOFUA'A is carved from a gorgeous, golden, piece of whalebone with beautiful inset pāua shell eyes.

To appreciate its beauty, take a moment to watch the accompanying video — you will be spellbound by its grain and colour.

The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect. 

The Hook:  The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.

Whale bone is quite porous and will absorb body oils. It will take on a golden colour over time. Local belief would say that the pendant becomes a part of you.
