TONUITANGA - Prosperity

" Fishing with two hooks increases productivity, by doubling your efforts you will prosper." - Rueben Tipene

TONUITANGA - Matau Rua, Double Hook.

TONUITANGA is a large and beautifully balanced double Matau. There is a lot of unity and harmony in this piece. A wonderful, edgy design which looks fantastic from every angle! Wear TONUITANGA and carry a piece of New Zealand with you always.

TONUITANGA is carved from New Zealand Kokopu Pounamu, a striking and relatively rare stone named because of its similarities to a small native fish found in local streams. Rueben has finished it with a satin/matte polish which gives the stone a wonderful feel and leaves its variations beautifully evident.

If you would like to own a superb carving from a very talented artist and carver - take a close look at this piece, it is truly beautiful.

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.
