TRAVELLER'S JOY

Tonijae has coloured particular parts of the bone with a light brown stain which gives the carved face a wonderful, subtle contrast. This draws your eye and highlights the play of shadows lightening the piece's visual appearance. The stain is a natural tea dye she makes for this purpose - natural and non-toxic!

TRAVELLER'S JOY is a medium sized and very graceful pendant. It looks great worn and is perfect for any occasion.

Tonijae has left the stained bone matte and has polished the natural bone to a lovely sheen. This adds a somewhat ethereal appearance to this gorgeous piece of art.

TRAVELLER'S JOY is provided with an adjustable length cord and lovingly packaged in a woven kete pouch.

Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.

Shipped to you with Express Courier and will be provided with our 'Kia Ora Card' explaining the meaning behind the hook design.
