STRENGTHEN MY SPIRIT has been polished to a satin matte finish - perfect for this particular piece of jade. This final treatment highlights the changes in structure and colour in the stone.
As an adornment, the Toki, or Adze, is said to bring courage and strength in times of adversity. It is a symbol of courage and strength in times of adversity and is often worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority.
Maori believe that carvings carry the spirit of those who wear them, becoming an important family Taonga (treasure) passed on to future generations of the family as an heirloom.
