This hand carved fish-hook necklace (hei-matau) makes a great gift for someone young setting off on new adventures. Beautifully presented on an adjustable kalahari cord with complex herringbone khaki binding this is a lovely light pendant that is ideal for children.
In New Zealand Maori tradition the fish hook represents prosperity, abundance, strength and determination. A fish hook is also worn to show a respect for the ocean and as an amulet provides protection on a journey, particularly when traveling over water.
