Carved by hand from Guatemalan jadeite, this Matau pendant by Kerry Thompson is defined by the stone's remarkable blue colours and their depth.

Kerry has finished AZURE QUEST in a soft matte polish, which allows the designs abundant curves to seamlessly flow without the distraction of reflected light. It is a design that will entice the wearer to hold and feel this gorgeous stone. The soft matte glows and will take on a beautiful colour over time and with wear.

This is a commanding and exceptional piece of carved art.

The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.
