BITTERSWEET - this wonderful BURMITE drop captures a time long passed. It was created around 100 million years ago and now is the fossilised remains of what was once a sticky substance secreted by trees to protect themselves from pests and predators.
The clarity of the amber reveals an array of ancient inclusions - bits and pieces of organic materials that were captured in this piece when it formed. We have fallen in love with this material - it's natural, organic, beautiful and always has a hidden surprise - sometimes an insect or a leaf, sometimes its fractured and stressed revealing the pressures faced when it was created.
