BLUE STONE FERN - Koru pendant in Guatemalan Jadeite.
Hand carved by Kerry Thompson
A hand-carved koru pendant in the classic unfurling fern shape. The material is Guatemalan jadeite, known for its spectacular blue-green colour - vivid, cool, and rare.
Decorative ridge binding runs along the top edge, adding texture and character to the cord attachment. The carving is clean, the stone is polished smooth, and the overall feel is both organic and refined.
Great for anyone who likes clean spiral forms, jade with serious colour, and unique wearable art.
Jadeite was revered by the Mayans as a sacred, living stone. They believed that it embody's sacred water, breath and regeneration. That it is imbued with the wisdom of centuries. Perhaps this energy sits in the heart of this piece and will carry through to its wearer.
What does the Koru represent...
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth
This piece is finely carved by hand and is a beautiful, one only pendant. Take a moment to view the video - this shows the fine carving and the subtle turns that are central to this very clever design.
Kerry has finished AZURE with a of soft polish, it glows but doesn't reflect and will take on a beautiful colour over time and with wear.
