Kerry has used a New Zealand Marsden Jade for this beautiful Koru. It is a wonderful piece of stone exhibiting a lot of the colours you will find if you spend some time in New Zealand - in the bush, the hills, on the beaches and in the water. Deep greens, pale browns and surf white - also a hint of gold and a very fresh fern.
EVOLUTION is a carved representation of a young fern frond - a native bush plant that sends out young growth in the shape of the koru.
Kerry carves these pieces to symbolise, and reflect on, the ups and downs one confronts on the journey through life. Like the koru's spiral shape, there are ups and downs in every life - and it should be filled with promise of renewal and growth.

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
The shape is streamlined, gloriously curved and quite unique. Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.
