This striking toki, hand-carved by Kerry Thompson, asserts itself with an edgy, commanding presence. The dense, deep green tangiwai pounamu is embedded with naturally occurring silver flecks - iron minerals captured during the stone's formation. Cut into the front face is an ordered, geometric arrangement of koru designs, their defined lines creating a deliberate rhythm across the surface. The pattern announces itself with clarity and strength, the polish contrast making each line distinct.

Tangiwai is the most ancient form of pounamu and takes its name from the Māori 'tangi' - to cry and 'wai' - water, 'tears of sorrow'. It is the perfect stone for this marvellous pendant.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful ....and this is a good one!
