MATAU OF DREAMS
This matau, crafted from a fascinating piece of New Zealand jade, is intricately yet minimally designed, with subtle indentations and flowing contours. It is an ideal piece for both wearing and displaying, as the carving and jade are marvelous. It was expertly crafted by the wonderful Donna Summers.
The very best way to appreciate this work (apart from holding it in your hands) is to watch the brief video we have taken of it slowly revolving. It really is a stunner! The carved form is balanced but interesting - a hook that extends high up the shaft. Donna has used the perfect piece of stone for the design and she has executed the carving beautifully.
It also has a lovely symbolism combining two shapes that are important in our local culture: the matau (hook) and the koru.
The hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
We provide this with a four plait beige coloured adjustable cord. Also included, our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Hook design.
Delivery to you with Express Courier is included in the price.
