MAXIMUM EFFORT - hand carved for us by Ross Crump. Ross has used a beautiful, light, milky green New Zealand Flower Jade for this expressive piece. Particularly effective is the finish he has used - a soft polish which draws out the subtle colours in the stone.
We've paired this lovely manaia with a heavier Black coloured adjustable cord and an Olive popper. We wanted to create a piece of jewellery that will draw the eye and request attention. This piece is perfect for you if you like handcrafted, traditional art to wear.
There is plenty of detail in MAXIMUM EFFORT - the body of the manaia is decorated with a sharply defined hook - which balances the detail of the carved head. The carving culminates in a fish tail, establishing a connection between the ocean and the land - perfect for a piece that comes from our island nation.
The head of a bird, a hook heart and a fishtail - MAXIMUM EFFORT is a pendant with significant meaning.
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
This pendant will be delivered to you with DHL Express Courier on a hand plaited adjustable cord. We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Hook design.
