SHELL MEMORIES

Carved from Guatemalan jadeite, this wonderful pendant reflects the mystery of the ocean - it inspires awe and wonder. The jadeite is a gorgeous pale blue-green, semi-translucent stone in colours that we rarely see.

Jadeite was revered by the Mayans as a sacred, living stone. They believed that it embody's sacred water, breath and regeneration. That it is imbued with the wisdom of centuries. Perhaps this energy sits in the heart of this piece and will carry through to its wearer.

The design is a fanciful shell shape. The tail of the shell culminating in a Koru design that provides a connection between the land and sea. It is beautifully carved and carries hints of shapes seen in many shells throughout the world.

What does the Koru represent...

The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’.  The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth

This piece is finely carved by hand and is a beautiful, one only pendant. Take a moment to view the video - this shows the fine carving and the subtle turns that are central to this very clever design.

Kerry has finished SHELL MEMORIES with a harmony of soft matte and polish, it glows but doesn't reflect and will take on a beautiful colour over time and with wear.
