A bold, strong carved manaia hook...

Carved for us by Yuri Terenyi - you can immediately recognise his bold carving style in THE FACE OF VICTORY. A hook that you can imagine being used to capture fish and nourish a family. A great, robust pendant that is made to be worn 24/7!

Yuri has carved this from natural bone and has used his homemade tea dye to give the unique brown coloured result.

If you like the photos, take a moment to watch the short video. You will gain an appreciation of the pendant shape and the grain and colour of the bone.

The Manaia: A mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.

The Hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.

Also included; our Kia Ora cards, which give a little meaning behind the Manaia and Hook designs.
