THE BULLER

NEW ARRIVAL
There is something very 'Kiwi' about this beautiful jade toki - it is carved from a piece of our beautiful New Zealand flower jade - so we named it 'THE BULLER' after one of our longest rivers. THE BULLER has it's source in a mountain lake called Rotoiti. From there it flows out to the West Coast of the South Island - the same area the jade comes from.
The design speaks to us of mountain rivers and the ferns that often grace their banks. It is a finely carved piece - so is perfect if you'd like a piece with a big presence but a light weight.
Beautiful New Zealand Flower Jade Toki in a contemporary design, hand carved for us by Sheree Warren.
The cord is hand-plaited and length adjustable.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. In pre-iron age times it was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. In early Aotearoa/New Zealand, the adze was used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
