There is something substantial about this beautiful jade toki - it is carved from an exceptional piece of New Zealand flower jade. We've named it ACHILLEION - a stone summer palace on the island of Corfu.
The design incorporates a chevron similar carved into the front face of a solid piece of jade. The pendant is chunky and solid and the stone equally beautiful on either side. Depending on your mood, or perhaps what you're wearing you can reverse this piece to achieve the effect that you would like.
Beautiful New Zealand Flower Jade Toki in a contemporary design, hand carved for us by Sheree Warren.
This is a wonderful stylised carving of the revered Māori adze. Striking about this piece is the chevron design carved down the front face. The Flower Jade Sheree has used for this Toki is beautiful and very expressive down the front right of the Toki.
The cord is hand-plaited and length adjustable.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. In pre-iron age times it was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. In early Aotearoa/New Zealand, the adze was used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
