Beautiful New Zealand Flower Jade Toki hand carved by Ross Crump for us.
These are wonderful carvings of the revered Māori adze. These pendants have the most delightful mix of colours - deep greens through mint tones and splashes of gold.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve Alliance came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It was been created in the alpine fault and was shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We provide these pendants on hand plaited, length adjustable cords in two colours. Please use the drop-down menu to select the piece that you would like.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
