Beautiful New Zealand Jade Toki hand carved for us by Ross Crump.
This is a wonderful carved representation of the revered Māori adze. ALLIANCE is a beautiful deep and clean green.
We have kept the cord and binding colour black as to contrast the beautiful green in the pounamu without taking anything away from it.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. In pre-iron age times it was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. In early Aotearoa/New Zealand, the adze was used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve Alliance came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It was been created in the alpine fault and was shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
