A gorgeous strawberry red toki carved from Burmese Jadeite that Tony (our Director) picked up on a recent trip to Myanmar. It is a glorious orange, through strawberry red, colour, quite translucent and very different from the green jade that we predominantly use.
This is a one off piece that we're delighted to have available for sale. Hand carved and delivered free worldwide. A beautiful and unique real jade pendant.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges. Jadeite is an extremely hard and tough stone, so very appropriate for this piece.
This pendant comes with one of our hand plaited Kalahari with Pohutukawa Red combo cords. A striking cord for a stunning pendant!
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
