BOUNCEBACK - Flower Jade Toki carved for us by Ross Crump.
Carved with clean, simple lines and traditionally lashed, BOUNCEBACK is a beautiful representation of the revered māori adze and a great reminder no matter what - you can always BOUNCEBACK.
Fall seven times, Stand up eight!
The flower jade used for this piece is gorgeous - the soft, natural colours of the land. This jade displays the layers of colour and the history of the boulder it has come from. BOUNCEBACK is cut from the outer part of the stone in towards the centre. The lighter coloured jade is closer to the 'skin' and the darker jade at the top, nearer the stone's 'heart'.
TOKI - A PENDANT WITH SIGNIFICANCE
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
This jade comes from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It has been created in the alpine fault under extreme pressure and has been worked over in a fast flowing, steep river.
These pendants are traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We will ship this beautiful pendant to you with DHL Express Courier, with a hand plaited, adjustable cord.
