This carving by Sheree Warren is her impression of this gorgeous bird. They are a dark Black/Mercury Blue colour - their plumage picks up the light and reflects it in an array of dark greens, blues and black. Offsetting the dark feathers is a small tuft of white that nestles in the base of their throat. That's the reason they are sometimes called the Parson Bird.
If you've ever spent time in the New Zealand bush you've probably heard the song of the Tui - melodious, sharp, sometimes harsh but always interesting.
Tui are noisy, busy birds that are welcome visitors to any garden!
We've named this piece BUSH SNIPER - they love to dart up to other birds, ruffle up and exert just a little pressure to move them on!
The pendant is detailed and solid and the stone equally beautiful, the relief Sheree has carved is exquisite and wonderfully showcases this cheeky bird.
Sheree carved this from a beautiful dark - the perfect stone for this piece. The cord is a plaited Black and is length adjustable. We've added Ice White Florets to tilt our hat to the white tuft!
