CHATOYANT - a band of bright lustre, caused by reflection from inclusions in the stone
The Jade Kerry has used for this Toki is exquisite - a gorgeous pale, striated green Inanga Jade. Beautiful stone and Kerry has utilised it beautifully.
CHATOYANT is a large, chunky Toki, hand carved and polished to a low sheen, a finish that really promotes the jade's colours and structure. It has a good depth and plenty of heft - it is a substantial piece of New Zealand Jade. Carved with Kerry's exceptional attention to detail, this is a beautiful, unique toki.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful ....and this is a good one!
Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges.
