NEW ARRIVAL
A stunning large hand carved Toki - COLD FRONT!
Have a look at the video we have taken of this piece slowly rotating. It has a very subtle and beautiful form. The jade has been polished to a silky matte finish - this is an outstanding piece of jewellery.
We'll let the photos, and the video, speak for this gorgeous pendant.
COLD FRONT - it comes at you in a hurry, the temperature drops, and it grabs your attention.
Handcarved from New Zealand Pounamu.
This piece is beautifully carved from a New Zealand jade that has quite a 'glacial' look - milky green with flecks of gold and deeper green.
Imagine a river thundering from the base of a glacier - if you've seen that particular water colour and the darker flashes of stone lifting above the flow - this is what you have here.
Watch the video - this is the best way to see COLD FRONT in its entirety.
THE TOKI - it's history and meaning...
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
This is a one-off piece and will make someone very happy!
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
