A beautiful hand carved toki - a fantastic gift for someone very special. This toki is hand carved from New Zealand Kawhaka Jade. It is a lovely mix of colours - milky green shades with hints of blue and paler whitish mineral inclusions.
Have a look at the video and you will see the variability of colours in this marvellous piece. It has been beautifully carved and is bound with a cord and binding that highlights the natural colours in the stone.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. Traditionally, the adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. It is a symbol of authority.
This shape is derived from a chisel tool used by the Māori people of Aotearoa (New Zealand) to carve their great canoes and carved detailing on their meeting houses. It was an essential tool in their daily lives, and a good quality jade adze was a prized possession.
We will deliver this to you with DHL Express Courier and will provide this pendant on an adjustable olive cord. We will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
