A large, solid and stunning hand carved Adze - EARTH's BLOOD
This toki is carved from a spectacular piece of jade. It has marvellous colour variation and texture which indicates the journey the stone has made over the millennia during its creation. Ric has taken this history and carved it into a gorgeous toki. The top is a glorious pale orange which feeds into a darker green which appears to be fed through a series of veinous striations that descend from the top - EARTH's BLOOD
Have a look at the video we have taken of this piece slowly rotating. It has a very beautiful form - lots of subtle angles, variations in thickness and curves just where they give the greatest effect. The jade has been polished to a silky matte finish - this is an outstanding piece of jewellery. It is large and has real 'heft', it will be a wonderful piece to wear if you're after something substantial.

THE TOKI - it's history and meaning...
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
This is a one-off piece and will make someone very happy!
