THE FENCER - we've been building a fence and the colours in this piece remind us of the changes in soil colour we hit as we put the posts in. It is a fantastic piece of stone - the colour variation from the beautiful green at the top through the reddy clay colour at the sharp end of the blade - just beautiful!
This piece is exquisitely carved! Tim has used his steady hand to create a finely streamlined, graceful toki - and with the gorgeous symmetry you can wear it either side.
Tim has cut through holes for the cord in the top - we love this little touch that allows the cord to 'appear' from the stone.
We'll let the photos, and the video, speak for this gorgeous pendant.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
