GOLDEN GLOW - polished Burmite Amber suspended in a hand made Sterling Silver clasp.
This is a stunner! A beautiful teardrop shaped piece of amber gently held in a silver pincette. Around 100 million years old - this material is fossilised amber, called Burmite, and comes from Northern Myanmar. We bought the raw material on a recent trip to Myanmar - it comes from the Hukawang Valley in the Kachin Province.
We have fallen in love with this material - it has wonderful colouring and has captured organic materials that existed alongside the dinosaurs in the middle of the Cretaceous Period. Take a look at the character in the amber - it displays all the wonderful internal fractures that reflect its journey from a sticky resin around 100 million years ago, to this fossilised little work of art.
This is what we call 'wearing history'!
