This piece is named HARIKOA - JOYFUL
HARIKOA is a beautiful medium sized Toki. This piece is carved by one of our favourite bone carvers, Andrew Doughty.
Andrew has carved HARIKOA with care and his typical attention to the fine details. This piece is a clean and tactile design carved in bone with a beautiful, bright little Pāua insert - made to be worn and handled.
Andrew describes his thinking behind his design in some detail and we will supply this description with the carving.
Briefly, it's meaning is as follows...
HARIKOA contains a kowhaiwhai pattern along both sides. This symbolises balance. With a balanced mind we can navigate our lives with calm and confidence.
On the front there is a special inlay of pāua in the middle of this taonga (treasure). This symbolises deepest most pure aspect our innermost being and union with this aspect of our joyful nature.
On the back there is an engraving of the logo of NZPacific. This symbolises the meeting of the Mountains and the sea. In New Zealand we are fortunate to be close to these beautiful and mighty powers of nature. There are few places in the world where they both meet so closely together. In essence, it is a celebration of nature and love.
This Taonga has been registered in Andrew's database and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
A fantastic toki, meaningful, beautifully carved and deserving of a home for generations.
We provide this piece with a note from the artist to the holder of this carving.
Also included, on of our Kia Ora cards which explain a little behind the Toki design. This stunning Toki will come to you in one of our wooden boxes.
