A contemporary hand carved toki pendant. This is a striking piece and it packs a punch not the least because of the gorgeous tangiwai stone it is carved from.
Take a look at the photos, and the short video, and you will see the beautiful pale greens and striated structure in the stone. This is a finely carved pendant, wonderfully offset with our Pohutukawa Red cord and binding. The cord is a fixed length (58cm (23 inches) circumference) with a jade toggle and loop closure as shown in the photos.
When lit from the back or side the stone 'lights up', and flashes of the incredibly interesting internal structure become visible.
The toki is a tribal symbol representing strength. It is designed to honour the adze which was used to build, fight, defend and played a important role in the daily survival of ancient tribes.
We deliver this pendant on our hand plaited Manuka adjustable cord and we will also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
