This is a lovely piece carved from some of our very special Marsden Flower Jade. A bold, colourful manaia matau...
This manaia incorporates the head of a bird, a koru and the tail of a fish - linking the sky, land and sea. These are important symbols down here in the South Pacific.
If you like the photos, take a moment to watch the short video. You will gain an appreciation of the gorgeous jade and the wonderful shape of this piece. This is something that will become a real family treasure.
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Hook: The wearer of a Hei-Matau is seen as a provider and protector who is strong willed and determined to succeed in life - what a lovely sentiment to gift to someone important to you.
Shipped to you with DHL Express Courier and will be provided with our 'Kia Ora Cards' explaining the meanings behind both the manaia and hook design.
