A traditional pounamu toki. This is a beautifully bound piece, hand carved from New Zealand greenstone.

The toki has a special place in local Māori culture, representing the tool used to carve ocean-going waka (canoes) and buildings. The toki was an important tool ensuring a communities survival.

These are worn to signify power, wisdom and authority.
