KALEIDOSCOPE Flower Jade Toki carved for us by Ross Crump.

Carved with clean, simple lines and traditionally lashed, these toki are a beautiful representation of the revered māori adze.

The flower jade used for these pieces is quite unique and becoming increasingly rare. It displays the layers of colour and the history of the boulder each piece has come from.

The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.

This jade comes from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It has been created in the alpine fault under extreme pressure and has been worked over in a fast flowing, steep river.

These pendants are traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.

We will ship this beautiful pendant to you with DHL Express Courier, with a hand plaited, adjustable cord. Please use the drop down menu to select the piece that you would like.

Also included, one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
