A stunning little Kete pouch carved from New Zealand Jade. Kete is the Māori word for basket, these are traditionally made from New Zealand flax. The flax is stripped into pieces and woven together to create a basket or pouch - used to carry and store food.
This pendant is a delight to handle - small and beautifully organic in form with a small cupped opening in the top. The jade used for this piece is a lovely soft green which is offset with a natural coloured cord.
This is a wonderful example of jade craftsmanship at a very high level.
