A small contemporary drop pendant, hand carved from some wonderful New Zealand Flower Jade. This piece is a beautiful dark green with lots of variation in the stone. When backlit you can see the internal structure of the material around the mineral inclusions in the stone.
This is a lovely pendant that we've named after events that occur from time to time in our volcanic plateau in the Central North Island. The Tongariro National park is a landscape formed by volcanic activity - eruptions have shaped the landscape here in the most amazing ways. If you haven't visited the region it's definitely worth the trip!
Traditionally, the drop shaped pendant is known as a comfort stone and is worn to soothe, heal and provide positive energy. In New Zealand this shape is called 'roimata' and is a stylised, softer version of the toki.
A lovely pendant if you are looking for something traditional with a decorative binding.
