This beautiful Pekapeka pendant is a marvellous spiritual piece hand carved in bone by Yuri Terenyi.
The pekapeka shape represents the native New Zealand bat - a tiny mammal, about the size of a hummingbird, which flies at night.
This is a traditional representation of the pekapeka - two heads facing away from each other and sharing one body. Yuri has also incorporated a finely carved koru in the base of the body.
The pekapeka is worn for protection, particularly when travelling - so if you have a loved one heading off on a journey, this would be the perfect gift.
