Hand carved from a beautiful New Zealand Kokopu Jade - a translucent, palish green sprinkled with little black inclusions. Kokopu is a type of jade named after a local native fish!
This is a finely carved piece made for us by Shaun Gardiner. It is This is a very finely crafted piece from some of our most beautiful New Zealand jade.
We have bound this piece with a hand-plaited Khaki cord with a popper in Olive Green, a colour that reflects the land of New Zealand.
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
