This gorgeous piece is a medium sized Toki hand carved from wood recovered from a pre 1940's Lignum Vitae bowling ball. Possibly one of the hardest woods around, and certainly one of the most beautiful (we think 😀)
NZ TRINITY is a work of art - wonderfully crafted from a range beautiful materials. The inlays are: TOP - New Zealand Aotea Stone - a rare material with subtle blue shades; MIDDLE - New Zealand Pounamu - also called greenstone or nephrite jade; BOTTOM - New Zealand Paua Shell. These represent the Sky (Aotearoa Stone), the Land (Pounamu) and the Sea (Pāua Shell).
The silver pathway - created with inlaid sterling silver points - represent a geological pathway. 7,5,3,2 - Maternal Grandmother, Paternal Grandmother, Mother and Father.
To complement the inlaid materials, Yannis has used brass rings to hold and highlight. This is a stand out necklace for those who appreciate art to wear.
It is provided with a fixed length, spiralled cord in brown with Paua Shell Toggle.
The Paua shell used in this Toki is a beautiful eye catching bright blue with purplish tones. The Pounamu is a lovely light green. The Aotea Stone couldn't be more perfect in representing the sky, it completely embodies the sky's colour and nature.
NZ TRINITY is a very cool piece. It has clean lines, is silky smooth and is exquisitely hand made from a fantastic New Zealand artist. Yannis has carved this with the flair that you would expect to find in his work - and his craftsmanship is flawless.
Take a moment to view the very brief video we have made of the piece slowly revolving - well with it!
