ONE MOMENT IN TIME - we had this piece carved from New Zealand Kokopu Jade, a gorgeous piece of stone that we recently sourced. We bought a boulder that had been owned by a family for over 50 years - we are thrilled to carve this beautiful stone and share it with many!
This stone has a wonderful mix of colours - they carry you to the central North Island country - or perhaps further afield to the green hills of Ireland!
ONE MOMENT IN TIME is a larger version of our popular WARRIOR toki - a visually powerful piece, softened a little with the koru carved into the lower third of the blade.
We have added a hand plaited Manuka Green/Khaki adjustable cord with a traditional Manuka lashing. The stone is central to this piece - a beautiful piece of New Zealand Kokopu Jade.
ONE MOMENT IN TIME is carved from a lovely piece of jade - this piece of stone is locally called Kokopu - named after a native fish that is becoming increasingly rare in New Zealand inland streams. The soft speckled appearance of the jade is a little like the colour of this little fish, and is quite rare.
ONE MOMENT IN TIME is finished in a matte sheen which helps the jade glow.
The Koru heart is all about new beginnings - the courage to successfully deal with anything the future has in store for you.
The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful ....and this is a good one!
Traditionally, the toki is worn to provide strength and courage to assist through life's challenges, and the koru is a symbol of rebirth, growth and new beginnings.
