Named after the Maestro's Moustache!
A beautifully carved, fan-shaped contemporary pendant made from rare Tangiwai Pounamu. This is a quirky, fun pendant and a 'tilt of the hat' to that great surrealist artist, Salvador Dali.
It is carved from a wonderful piece of stone - hold it up to the light and you will see that it is translucent, and has dark speckled inclusions throughout.
Tangiwai comes from a remote area in the Milford Sounds called Piopiotahi. This is the most ancient form of pounamu and takes its name from the Māori 'tangi' - to cry and 'wai' - water, so the translation means 'tears of sorrow'.
This pendant is beautifully carved and bound. It is streamlined, gloriously curved and polished to a matte finish. Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.
