NEW ARRIVAL
SMOLDER - A stunning New Zealand Flower Jade Toki hand carved for us by Ross Crump.
The gorgeous pale lemon and minty green colours in the bottom of the toki, and the splash of colour on the back, reflect SMOLDER's fiery heart. This is a marvellous example of Ross virtually removing stone to release the toki within. This is a very cool piece, carved from a beautiful piece of New Zealand Flower Jade.
We'll let the photos, and the video, speak for this gorgeous pendant - take a moment to check them out.
WHY YOU WOULD WEAR A TOKI....
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve this stunning Toki came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island, from the Marsden valley. It was created in the alpine fault and was shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
