A gorgeous and detailed manaia carved from a colourful piece of Marsden flower jade.
This is a wonderfully coloured piece of jade - milky green through a honey-orange in the bottom arch. Ross has incorporated a koru spiral in the tail of this carving giving it an interesting symbology:
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
We will deliver this on an olive coloured cord. If you would prefer another colour, please let us know in the comments field at checkout.
