Check out the lovely colouring in this stone. It is a beautiful green, semi-translucent and a little mysterious - reminiscent of a luscious forest, your SANCTUARY
Take a look at the brief video which shows this piece revolving. It is a gorgeous piece of stone and has been carved beautifully to bring the best out in this wonderful natural material.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve this stunning Toki came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island. It is a little like the luscious green colours you'll encounter when you have the opportunity to visit this remote and beautiful area.
We are very fortunate to have artists who have maintained, and evolved, the carving skills that Māori have used for centuries to make tools and jewellery This toki is a wonderful example of this art.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
