SCOLOTI - this is a creative and fanciful pendant carved from bone and black Buffalo Horn. It is inspired by Scythian design from around 500BC. This particular design shows two griffons in a form that would originally have been carved in wood and was found as decoration on horse gear.
Scythians came from an area which now comprises the Ukraine and Southern Russia. They were led by a nomadic warrior aristocracy called SCOLOTI.
This is a lovely piece, hand carved and lightly coloured with a 'housemade' stain made from tea. We have plaited a Black/Gingernut Cord which picks up the colours in the pendant. The cord is length adjustable.
