This is a lovely, plain pendant, handmade from bone in New Zealand. We have designed this with children in mind for its simplicity, light weight and for the symbolic meaning of the toki, or adze.
Traditionally people from the Pacific used the toki to build fortresses and waka - ocean going canoes. It is a symbol of authority and power and the wearer is believed to be a person of good character.
This pendant will change colour over time as it is worn and absorbs oil from your body. They generally turn a golden honey colour.
This will be supplied with a small woven pouch.
