A beautifully bound, small bone toki. Hand carved in New Zealand.
The beauty of these bone pendants is that they will change colour over time as they are worn and absorb oils from your body. They generally turn a golden honey colour.
The Toki, or adze, is an important symbol in Māori culture. It was used to build their fortresses and their waka - ocean going canoes. A toki is a symbol of authority and power and the wearer was believed to be a person of good character.
