Gorgeous, small floret shaped pendants, hand carved from woolly mammoth tusk. Each piece is a one-off carved from ancient mammoth tusk which is more than 10,000 years old.
We had our mammoth material carbon dated to get an accurate measure of its age. The testing was done for us by GNS Science, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute and New Zealand's leading provider of Earth, geoscience and isotope research - so their assessment of this material is as accurate as is possible using radiocarbon dating technology.
We have called this necklace 'SPITFIRE'. It's quirky, a little bit feisty and always interesting! This is a delicately carved piece that looks fantastic as an eye-catching accessory.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
Take a little time to view the photos and the video to appreciate the complex shape and variation in the materials.
Please Note - we have limited number of these pendants and each one is different. Use the drop-down menu to select the piece that you would like.
We deliver this beauty on a plaited Pearl or Black adjustable cord and will include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, explaining the meaning behind the koru design.
