This beautiful Toki has been carved from a marvellous piece of New Zealand Flower Jade (Pounamu). We have bound it with a hand-plaited olive green cord which is length adjustable.
This shape is derived from a chisel tool used by the Māori people of Aotearoa (New Zealand) to carve their great canoes and the detailing on their meeting houses. It was an essential tool in their daily lives, and a good quality jade adze was a prized possession.
This piece is a fabulous representation of the traditional toki - simple and elegant.
Also included, one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
