Hand carved by Ross Crump - a beautiful, gentle pendant carved from New Zealand inanga jade - a light and semi translucent stone that is perfect for this pendant. We have used our Whiorau cord for this piece - the colours don't remove attention from the pendant.
To appreciate the design, take a moment to watch the short video. This shows the piece slowly rotating and will give you a clear view of the shape and the colour of the jade.
The Manaia: a mythical being believed to be the invisible light, or aura, surrounding a person. They represent spiritual power and are believed to be the guide that leads the spirits to heaven. They are worn to guide and protect.
The matau, or hook pendant is revered throughout the South Pacific as a symbol for life, well-being and prosperity. Its significance arises from the key role that fishing has played in sustaining island families and communities. The owner of a good hook was respected and held a place of authority in the community.
We will provide this pendant with a Kalahari/Khaki Green plaited cord which is length adjustable.
We will also include our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Manaia and Hook design.
ONE ONLY - Shipping with DHL Express Courier is included in the price.
