SUNRISE IN THE VALLEY - hold this Toki up to the light and let the light shine through... reveal its inner life! SUNRISE IN THE VALLEY is a beautiful union of light and dark greens.
This piece feels good - it is silky, soft in the hand - and it looks fantastic with its soft matte finish.
This was carved by Darren Hill. He predominantly carves freeform pieces and is a master at utilising the natural beauty in any given piece of New Zealand jade he carves.
Take a moment to watch the brief video - it shows the piece revolving and will give you a good idea of the form and colour of this pendant.
The toki, or adze, is a symbol of strength. The adze was a key survival tool, so the owner of a good one was believed to be strong and powerful. They were used to carve ocean-going waka (sea canoes) and to build central meeting houses so they played a central role in traditional life of māori.
The jade used to carve this stunning Toki came from the West Coast on New Zealand's South Island, from the Marsden valley. It was been created in the alpine fault and was shaped and given further character in our alpine rivers.
The toki is traditionally worn for strength and courage - to assist through life's challenges.
We also include one of our 'Kia Ora' cards, which explains the meaning behind the Toki design.
Delivery with DHL Express Courier is included in the price.
