TAKAHURIHURI - Spin
This is a gorgeous carving. A piece by artist and jade carver Kerry Thompson, TAHAHURIHURI really shows off the beauty of New Zealand flower jade. This piece has been polished to a soft matte finish that will beautifully evolve with wear and time.
A large and striking double koru pendant carved in New Zealand pounamu.
Kerry has used a New Zealand Marsden Jade for this piece - a lively and wonderfully coloured flower jade.. It is a wonderful piece of stone - textured and rich.
TAKAHURIHURI is provided with an adjustable cord we have plaited in Cobalt Blue and Chestnut brown.
This is a carefully thought through pendant, with considerable history sitting behind the design. It is carved with sensitivity for the material and for the symbolism of the koru design.
The Koru: the Māori word for 'loop'. The spiral shaped koru design represents an unfolding silver fern frond. The circular movement towards an inner coil refers to ‘going back to the beginning’. The unfurling frond itself is symbolic of new life, new beginnings, hope and rebirth.
The shape is streamlined, gloriously curved and quite unique. Take a look at the video and you will appreciate the artistry of this beautiful piece.
